No Passing in Center Lane. Even the school bus drove unlawfully.
No Parking in the Center Lane. The delivery vehicle has No Curbside Loading.
3 Foot Law violated by the impatient driver getting too close to the student rider.
Safety Mistake Made By Adult Riding Leaders
The adults should have ridden in the middle and taken the lane to block the cars from passing.
Crossing the Street Is Challenging for the Young
Old town residents simply want their children to ride to school to provide some independence, reduce vehicle traffic, promote a healthy lifestyle and reduce human impact on the planet. The current infrastructure does not make it easy.
In 2025, this young rider takes over two minutes to cross the intersection that has an “unmarked crosswalk”. A marked and controlled crosswalk would provide safer passage. See more about Golden Gate Market.

In 2020, this 12 year old crossing the street with Rapid Flashing Beacons and 3 other pedestrians in the crosswalk was hit by a driver that did not brake until after impact. See more about Napa Street Intersection. The video is muted out of courtesy to hide the unforgettable screams of frightened children.
The 12 year old child injured in the video above is just a dot on this injury report map. Labeled as a minor injury, but reportedly suffered a broken hip and could have been killed.
