Emergency Vehicles
The laws of California prohibit parking in the center turn lane. The Laws of Physics prohibit an emergency vehicle from using the center turn lane when blocked by an unattended stopped vehicle.
Emergency Lane or Parking Lane? Not Both!
The center turn lane is for turning only. The emergency vehicles would benefit from not having large trucks parked in the center lane so they could easily travel down the center.

Emergency Services are confident proposed road will not hinder access

Sausalito Police haven’t enforced parking in the center lane for over 30 years.
Sausalito police did enforce no parking when it was an emergency vehicle lane before 1986. Read this letter to the editor describing the ticket issues for dropping off in the emergency vehicle lane.

Police Chief explains emergency lane is not needed.
According to Chief Rohbacher, emergency services does not need the center turn lane to reach old town quickly.
Center lane deliveries block ambulances.
In this level of Bridgeway Frogger, a delivery vehicle is parked in the center turn lane. The regular vehicles are programmed to simply pull over when the Ambulance comes on scene. The Ambulance is programmed to avoid obstacles, but in this scenario it cannot find a path and crashes into the delivery truck.
Bike Lanes make it easy for an Ambulance.
In this level of Bridgeway Frogger, the bike lanes provide plenty of space for the vehicles to pull out of the way leaving two lanes for first responders to zoom through the traffic.
