Three New Crosswalks Were Proposed
Update: When the City Council shelved the full design on March 29, 2025, it asked staff to look at flashing-beacon crosswalks on their own. That work became the city’s Bridgeway Pedestrian Crossing Project (Princess St. to Second St.). The city sought a design consultant in late 2025 and held a community listening session in August 2026. Progress has been very slow, and there is still no marked crosswalk on this stretch of Bridgeway.

Crosswalks don’t work with the existing median.
Motorists drive in the median to pass cyclists. Delivery vehicles block visible line of sight.
Refuge island blocks emergency access.
Center island refuge is used on roads where space is abundant.
Bike lanes provide narrow standard crossing.
No median provides a narrow crossing of vehicle travel lanes.
A bulb-out and daylighting would improve this crossing proposal.

Crosssing Bridgeway in the current chaos is dangerous and stressful. Crossing a Better Bridgeway helps those that need it the most.
