CA DMV Center Turn Lane

A center left turn lane is located in the middle of a two-way street. It is marked on both sides by two painted lines. The inner line is broken and the outer line is solid.

California DMV Handbook

The lines on Bridgeway match exactly the description of the center turn lane.

Parametrix calls it a center turn lane…

The Median is no longer an Emergency Lane.

The sign is gone, the raised median is flush with the road, the lines are painted as a center turn lane.

The historic designation has no relevance in today’s infrastructure.

Read more about how the lane is used for more than turning.
